Golf Son Gual is the realization of one man's golf-fueled dream. Frustrated by the poor condition of Mallorca's existing courses, British double-glazing magnate Adam Pamer decided to build his own championship venue in 2007. He enlisted Thomas Himmel, a three-time German Amateur Champion, to craft the design, and the result is nothing short of spectacular. Set on 156 hectares of gently rolling Mallorcan countryside just 15 minutes from Palma, Son Gual immediately established itself as one of Europe's premier golf destinations.
The course is a masterclass in design subtlety and strategic challenge. Himmel's layout features two distinctive halves—the front nine hugging the estate's perimeter with water hazards playing a leading role on four holes, while the back nine unfolds through the heart of the property. You'll encounter 66 strategically positioned bunkers, over 1,000 mature olive trees, vibrant wild flower meadows, and the estate's own working vineyards. The Palacio, a historic mansion perched at the course's highest point, provides a commanding backdrop throughout your round. The bent grass fairways and greens are maintained to absolute perfection, and the par-3s rank among Europe's finest—particularly the 9th, which reminds many of Augusta's water-surrounded holes.
Walking is permitted on this gently undulating course, though buggies are recommended for summer play. The 18th hole—a dramatic par-5 with water hazards and challenging approach—is a serious contender for Europe's best finishing hole. After your round, the elegant clubhouse with its terrace overlooking Palma Bay offers Mediterranean cuisine and local wines, making Son Gual more than just a golf course—it's a complete Mallorcan golfing experience.
Championship layout spanning 6,621 meters with undulating fairways, strategic bunkers, water hazards, and one of Europe's finest par-3 collections.
