Jack's Point is a relatively young championship course (opened 2008) that has already cemented itself as the jewel in Queenstown's golf crown and one of New Zealand's most celebrated layouts. With a backdrop of 2,300 vertical metres of the Remarkables mountain range and an outstanding lake panorama, Jack's Point Golf course is one of the most visually spectacular in the world. The routing is pure theatre—you climb from native tussock wetlands up a dramatic ridge, hitting several challenging uphill holes with bunker-guarded carries, before being rewarded with a breathtaking run of lakeside holes that feel suspended between earth and sky.
Designed in harmony with the natural environment, the course weaves through native tussock grasslands, dramatic rock outcrops, steep bluffs and swathes of native bush to the edge of Lake Wakatipu. Designed by John Darby, the course is ranked number one in the South Island of New Zealand. The signature 7th hole—a 149-yard par 3 that plunges nearly 90 feet to an infinity green overlooking the lake—is the stuff of golf postcards and will haunt you long after your round.
This is not an easy course; the course is challenging with elevation changes and thick rough although the fairways are generous and in magnificent condition. Jack's Point demands respect, but the combination of world-class architecture, immaculate conditioning, and views that stop conversation mid-sentence makes it an unforgettable destination for any serious golfer. Groups of golfers will find this a bonding experience—whether celebrating the stunning shots or commiserating the dramatic misses.
A 6,988-yard championship links-style course with dramatic elevation changes, spectacular lake and mountain views, and five tee positions.
