Old Macdonald pays homage to golf course architect Charles Blair Macdonald by asking what he would have created had the Oregon Coast been his canvas. Inspired by Macdonald's iconic work, course architects Tom Doak and Jim Urbina crafted a course with vast greens, myriad angles of play, and fierce bunkers. From the very wide fairways to the rumpled, shared greens and ever-present wind, the course delivers a distinctly Scottish feel that can make you forget you are in Oregon. Fairways are often 60 to 80 yards in width, and the greens are enormous with a combined area in excess of 6 acres. Old Macdonald is an open links course subject to oceanside weather but does not embrace the ocean, allowing the twists, turns, sand, and grass that nature provided.
